Harper's Elbow, Wrist Will Be OK Come October

Ailing Elbow, Wrist Will Be OK Come Oct.

Harper is scheduled to have a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in his elbow to help alleviate the discomfort in his elbow and wrist. The injection is derived from his own blood and is expected to speed up the healing process. Harper stated that he’ll be ready for the start of the regular season. “It will be ready to go,” Harper said after Team USA’s practice at Dodger Stadium. “We’ve got six weeks to go until the season starts. I think I’ll be good. I’m not worried about it.” Harper initially suffered the discomfort in his elbow in August 2021. He missed one game and returned to finish the season as the Phillies made an improbable run to the World Series. He has battled elbow issues dating back to 2017, and last September he received an injection for the discomfort. He had platelet-rich plasma therapy on his right elbow in 2016. Harper continues to struggle with an elbow injury, which he aggravated during the World Series. He also has a wrist injury that hampered him last September and forced him to miss one game in the regular season. After the World Series, he received a PRP injection in his elbow, and he said he’s been feeling much better since then. “I’m not worried about it,” Harper said. “I’m just trying to get ready for the season. I’ll be ready to go.”
